Frequently asked questions
Everything about designing, printing and receiving a Wallspoke print. If your question is not here, ask us and we will answer it.
Designing your print
What can I make?
Four things. A personalized map of any single place, a route map traced from a race or ride, a collage of up to four locations on one poster, and a night sky chart showing the stars over a place on a particular night. Each has its own editor, and all of them are made to order.
Can you map any location in the world?
Yes. If a place has coordinates it can be mapped, from a capital city down to a village lane. Street-level detail is available worldwide, so the map can centre on a specific address rather than just a town.
How much can I change?
The location and framing, the colour style, the markers, and the text. Titles, dates, captions and coordinates can each be edited or removed entirely. The preview updates as you go, so what you approve is what gets printed.
Can I save a design and come back to it?
Yes. Every editor has a save option that emails you a link back to your design. You can pick it up on another device, or send it to someone else for a second opinion before ordering.
What file do I need for a route map?
A GPX file. Garmin, Coros, Strava, Apple Watch and Suunto all export one in a couple of clicks. If your device produces a FIT file, export the activity as GPX instead. Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, New York City and Tokyo are already loaded, so those need no upload at all.
Can I use my own photos in a collage?
Yes. Any panel accepts a JPG or PNG up to 6MB. The editor checks the photo against the size it will print at and warns you if it is too small, rather than letting you find out on the wall.
Sizes, paper and framing
What sizes do you offer?
8x10, 12x16, 12x18, 16x20, 18x24 and 24x36 inches. Each print is rendered for the size you choose rather than scaled up afterwards, so larger sizes also carry more detail.
Which size should I pick?
For a desk, a shelf or part of a gallery wall, 8x10 or 12x16. To anchor a room on its own, 18x24 or 24x36. If the map covers a wide area or a long route, going larger keeps the detail readable.
Do you sell framed prints?
Yes. Every size is available as an unframed poster or framed in black, white or red oak, ready to hang.
What paper do you print on?
Museum-grade matte stock with archival inks, printed at 300dpi. Matte rather than gloss, because fine map linework reads better without the reflection.
Ordering and delivery
How long does an order take?
Everything is made to order, so nothing is printed until you buy it. Production usually takes a few business days, then transit time depends on where you are. You will get tracking as soon as it ships.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, worldwide. Prints are packed flat and protected rather than rolled in a tube, so they arrive ready to frame.
Can I change my design after ordering?
Get in touch as soon as you can. If it has not gone into production we can usually swap the file. Once printing has started the piece is already made specifically for you.
What is your returns policy?
Because each print is made to order for one customer, we do not accept returns for a change of mind. If a print arrives damaged, or does not match the design you approved, contact us and we will put it right.
Something is wrong with my order. What now?
Send us your order number and a photo of the problem. Damage in transit and print faults are replaced, and we would rather hear about it than have you live with it.
